Home and lifestyle photography for catalogs, e-commerce and editorial.

Based in Salt Lake City and New York City, James Ransom creates commercial photography and video for advertising, e-commerce, catalogs, packaging, editorial and social media, specializing in food, home and interiors, soft goods, still life and lifestyle photography. Known for his thoughtful use of color, light and composition, he creates imagery that feels natural, elevated and inviting. His work brings a refined editorial sensibility to commercial photography, whether he’s capturing the texture and appetite of food, the character of an interior or the quiet details of a beautifully designed object. James began working with Food52 founders Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs and helped shape the brand’s visual identity, photographing its food, products, interiors and stories. He shoots on location for clients across the country and also works from his own studio in New York City.
